At EKVR we know that a cancer diagnosis can be extremely daunting, we aim to help clients make the best decision for both them and their pets. Many canine and feline cancers respond well to chemotherapy and often have minimal impact on quality of life. Our vets are able to provide further investigations and diagnostics to fully identify and stage most cancers. Working alongside oncology specialists we are able to provide a range of treatment options at our home between Canterbury and Dover.
We believe that this is an important service to offer as a lot of first-opinion vets are unable to offer chemotherapy and owners are often required to take their pets on day trips for treatment at far away referral hospitals. By offering this service we aim to minimise time at the vets for pets and maximise time at home with family, enjoying life as much as possible.
In the majority of cases, the cancers that we treat in pets with chemotherapy are rarely cured but treatment often gives a beloved family member many additional months that they would not have had without treatment. The side effects of chemotherapy are much less in pets than in humans and each treatment will be fully discussed with pet owners to explain any risks or necessary monitoring.
Cancers which may be suitable for chemotherapy:
We are also able to offer surgery to remove some tumours and then treat further with chemotherapy to increase chance of remission.
Please get in touch to discuss any suspected or confirmed cancer cases to discuss individualised options to enhance quality of life.
