Information for Vets

Working in collaboration with you

At EKVR, we exist to support the work you do every day. Our goal is to make advanced veterinary care genuinely accessible to your clients — without the cost, distance, or disruption of travelling to a large referral hospital — while keeping you fully involved at every stage.

We understand that referring a case means trusting someone else with your client relationship. We take that responsibility seriously. Our commitment to you is clear, timely communication throughout, a smooth and straightforward referral process, and patients returned to your care as soon as it is clinically appropriate.

Our boutique, independent nature allows us to tailor treatment to both the client and referring vet's preferences. We bridge the gap between first-opinion practices and larger referral hospitals — removing cost and travel barriers for clients, and simplifying the referral process for you.

No referral client will be taken on for first-opinion services at Beacon View Vets.

Not sure whether a case needs referral?

We are always happy to have an informal conversation before a formal referral is submitted, whether you're weighing up surgical or diagnostic options, unsure whether a presentation warrants referral, or simply want a second clinical perspective.

How to refer to EKVR

Referring a case to EKVR is straightforward. Here is what to expect at each stage.

1

Submit a referral

Complete our online referral form with the patient and clinical details. For urgent cases, please call us directly and we will aim to offer an appointment within days.

2

The appointment

We'll contact your client directly to arrange an appointment and copy you in to confirm the booking. You'll know exactly when they're coming in.

3

Stay in the loop

You'll receive regular whilst your patient receives high-quality care with full monitoring and support. Operative notes and postoperative plans follow every procedure.

4

Reporting and support

Patients are returned to your care for ongoing management as soon as clinically appropriate. We see our role as supporting your client relationship, not replacing it.

What to include in your referral

The more context you can give us, the better we can prepare for your patient. Useful information includes:

  • A summary of the clinical history and presenting complaint
  • Any relevant examination findings
  • Details of investigations or treatments already undertaken
  • Your provisional diagnosis or differential list
  • Any specific concerns or questions you'd like us to address
  • Radiographs or imaging files, if available

If you're unsure what to include, just send what you have — we'll follow up if we need anything further.
